Communication/Journalism 260-Introduction to Digital Media
Students will learn technologies and features of Web 2.0, including how to create a wiki, write a blog, and create a podcast. Students will also learn how to navigate Second Life and create Flash movies for use on the web.
In addition, this class focuses on developing a critical understanding of new media and exploring how it can be used for both creative/artistic and professional pursuits. The class will conclude with a public exhibition of student-created digital art (animations, nonlinear storytelling, performance art, etc.).
Students following the new core will get P1 credit for this course.
Class will consist of discussion, demo, and lab time.
Grades will be determined by the completion of several projects, including the major final artistic project. There will also be 2-3 short papers and class discussion.
