Communication/Journalism 100-Introduction to Mass Communication

In Introduction to Mass Communication, we "take the walk" through the different media and occupations within the field. After beginning with communication theory, we talk about the role of the web and the internet on the industry, and then look at books, newspapers, magazines, sound and music, and broadcasting (radio and television and new media). Finally, we discuss the fields of advertising and public relations and how these two areas utilize all of the media.

Class consists of some lecture, and much discussion and in-class activities.

Grades are determined by exams (short answer and essay), one paper, and an oral presentation.
